2009 - 2010 Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest
The Power of Peace
Join clubs worldwide in sharing children's vision of peace with your community by sponsoring a Lions International Peace Poster Contest for a local school or youth group.
How the Contest Works
Clubs sponsor the contest for local
schools or organized, sponsored youth groups. The contest is open to students,
11-13 years of age on November 15, 2009. Participants will be asked to draw,
sketch or paint their interpretation of this year's 2009 - 2010 contest's theme.
"The Power of Peace". One winner is chosen per school or youth group to
advance to district competition. On the district level, one winner is selected
to go on to multiple district competition. The multiple district winner is
forwarded to International Headquarters to compete in international semifinalist
judging. Twenty-four posters representing the best efforts of the more than
325,000 children who enter annually are chosen to go on to international
finalist competition.
A panel of internationally-renowned judges selects the grand prize winner from the field of 24 finalists. The remaining posters are named merit award winners.
Prizes
The international grand prize winner
receives US$2,500 (or local equivalent), a special commemorative plaque and a
trip for the artist and two family members to Lions Day with the United Nations
in New York, New York, USA . In addition, the winner's sponsoring Lions club
receives a trip for the club president to attend as well.
Twenty-three international merit award winners each receive US$500 (or local equivalent) and a framed certificate.

District 33-A Information:
For more than a decade, Lions Clubs International has been committed to keeping peace in our world through the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. This year thousands of young people around the globe will be challenged to express their feelings about world peace and depict their version of "The Power of Peace". Thanks to your club, children in your community will have a chance to reflect on the importance of peace in their lives and share their visions with the world.
Steps to a Successful Contest:
This contest is a lot of fun for the students and please be mindful of deadlines and rules, its not fair to do all the work and then get disqualified.
Looking forward to a good participation, there is a special patch for your banner, if the District gets 23% participation. Lets all support District Governor Donald and show District 33A can do it!
Attention: Peace Poster Chairpersons/Presidents
Publicize the contest!
An important aspect of the contest is
publicizing your club's winning entry to the local media. Once the winner is
chosen, complete the enclosed news release provided with the kit. Include the
winning child/students name, school or youth group and age and other required

prepare a press release for each winner.
